By John J. Boucher

Full Name: John J. Boucher

Former High School: Holy Name Central Catholic High School

Graduation Year: 1966

Organization: Catholic Evangelizer     Job Title: Catholic Evangelization Consultant, Trainer, & Writer

Briefly describe what you do for work:
I consult with individuals, parishes, and dioceses about how to deepen Catholic faith and discipleship with Jesus Christ, reach out to inactive Catholics, and evangelize the unchurched. My wife Therese and I offer workshops and extended training for Catholics who want to learn how to evangelize others person-to-person, in small groups, and as entire parishes. Websites: Holy Spirit Calling, Catholic Evangelizer, and John and Therese Boucher.

Who influenced you the most during your time at Holy Name? Why?
Sr. Barbara Flynn, SSA, because she called me to develop and use my gifts of speaking, teaching, and writing. After graduation, she became my unofficial spiritual director.

Describe Holy Name in three words:
Spirit, Hope, & Faith

What is the most important thing you learned at Holy Name?
Our Catholic faith is not just something we practice by going to church on Sunday, but by living our everyday lives in Jesus Christ’s presence for the sake of others.

What activities or sports were you involved in at Holy Name?
The Student Government, Glee Club, Newspaper and Yearbook staff, and the Chess Club.

What advice would you give your 15-year-old younger self?
Be more willing to try new things, to help others, and when you fail, fail forward with courage.

What is something people may not know about you?
I am an avid Star Wars and Star Trek fan (books, comics, TV, and movies). I Love to relax by playing strategy games on tablet and computer.

What advice do you have for current Saint Paul students to make the most of their experience?
Give your life to Jesus Christ (ask for help to do that). Learn how to give back to the Church, and the world, all the gifts God has given you.

Anything else you want to share?
My wife, Therese, and I will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 30, 2020!
